JAMMU, Aug 11: As a part of `Operation Sadhbhavana’, the Pir Panjal Brigade of Army organized National Integration tour to Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad for a duration of 14 days.
The tour was flagged off by Commander Pir Panjal Brigade at Rampur (Uri) in a glittering ceremony which was attended by civilians of the area, senior Army officers and family members of the students. Twenty four students were selected from various schools of the area for the tour out side the State.
The children during the tour will visit the places of military, historical interests at Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. They will be visiting Aga Khan palace, National War Museum, Patealeshwar Caves, Munshi Lake and Dam, Saras Garden, Raja Dinakar Kelkar Museum, Bund Garden, Vishram Bagh Wada, St Mary’s Chursh, Parvati Hill temple, Marine Drive, Jawahar Lal Nehru International Stadium, Gateway of India, Elephanta Caves Mumbai Film City, Haji Ali Dargah, Hanging Garden, Sabarmati Ashram of Gandhiji and many other places. During the visit, the students will also be interacting with various important dignitaries.
The participants were very enthusiastic and thrilled as this was their first opportunity to venture out of the State and experience the rest of the country with their own eyes. This initiative by the Army has been taken with the objective to offer adequate exposure to the youth of this hilly belt in Kashmir and introduce them to the diversity and rich socio-cultural heritage of our nation.
