AKHNOOR, May 12: The Army felicitated `Veer Naris’ and widows of the soldiers of Pallanwala area in a function organized at Akhnoor today.
The real purpose behind organizing such programme by the Army was to reach out to `Veer Naris’ and widows to solve their problems related to pension anomalies, health, resolution of grievances and for extending legitimate benefits under schemes offered by Adjutant General’s Branch of Army Headquarters. A total 14 `Veer Naris’ and 94 widows of the former soldiers attended the event.
To make this noble endeavour meaningful, a holistic approach was adopted wherein, a dedicated Pension Anomaly Cell was established to proactively seek and address anomalies related to pension of `Veer Naris’ and widows prior to conduct of the event. A health check up camp provided the necessary health care facilities and medicines to all the needy persons at the camp.
This event was a reflection of an important tenet of the age old traditions and culture of Indian Army to respect its martyrs and families. The sacrifices that they have made can never be repaid and the country will always be indebted to them. The `Veer Naris’ and widows present there appreciated the initiative taken by Army and said it would motivate youth to join Army.
