Army carries out construction work for people’s benefit

SRINAGAR, May 25: In keeping with aspirations of local populace in Khanpora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles unit carried out track construction and widening for helping orchard owners and general public, an official said here.
The people of Khanpora, Baramulla are primarily dependent on apple cultivation for their livelihood. The orchards are located at places which are not connected by motorable roads and the people have to carry their yields on their backs over a large distance.
The official added during their interactions with the GOC Dagger Division, the people had made a request for improvement of the track connecting the orchards so that vehicles could ply and transfer their produce to markets easily.
“On directions of GOC, a dozer JCB was employed”, he said, adding, the improvement of the track commenced in early 2015.
“The same was completed this last week and is now being utilised by public. The track is now motorable and the people of Khanpora have expressed their gratitude for help extended by Army for their welfare & upliftment”, he added.
