Armed Police ready to face challenges: Sahai

JAMMU, Feb 18: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed S M Sahai today said that Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police is ready to face every challenge and it has proved its mettle by successfully tackling worst law and order, militancy and other disasters and crisis situations during past years. He lauded the officers and men for their outstanding performance during the previous year.
Addressing a darbar of officers and men of JKAP 14th battalion at Simbal camp in Miran Sahab area of R S Pura here, Mr Sahai said that maintaining law and order in the State has been a tough task. “Armed Police effectively tackled the worst agitations and crisis situations and is prepared to face every challenge. It has been due to commitment and dedication of our officers and men that law and order was maintained in the State during worst agitations that erupted in 2008 and 2010”, the officer added.
He said that Armed Police has always been at the service of general public during crises and disasters. “JKAP worked during floods and carried out rescue, relief, cleaning and rehabilitation operations across the State”, he added.
“The JKAP effectively tackled militancy in the State and hundreds of our men laid down their lives while combating militancy, we shall carry forward the spirit of patriotism and our motive should be service with excellence in all the fields”, the ADGP added.
The ADGP sought suggestions from the unit personnel for betterment of work culture in Armed Police and said that he is open to suggestions from everyone. He advised the officials that they should take precautionary measures regarding Swine flu.
“Forces are more vulnerable to communicable diseases like that of Swine Flu as we live and dine together, we shall take precautionary measures to avoid the outbreak the pandemic which has already recorded a death in the State”, he added.
