RAJOURI, Jan 23: ‘Arbi Nasr Ka Fani Irtaqa’ – a book by Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum, Head Department of Arabic in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, was released, here today.
The book was formally released by the Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU Prof Irshad Hamal during a function organized by the Department of Arabic in the conference hall wherein former Dean of Arabic, University of Kashmir Prof Manzoor Ahmed Khan, Registrar Mohammad Rashid Choudhary along with University staff, dignitaries and students were also present.
The book is originally written by world renowned historian and former professor of Qahra University, Egypt Dr Shouqi Zaif and has been translated by Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum in Urdu. Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum read out the introduction of the book.
Appreciating the work of Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum, Vice Chancellor said that the Department of Arabic is not only a centre of learning but a hub of other literary activities also. He said that the department will soon emerge a centre of literary activities in Pir Panjal region of the State.
Former Dean of Arabic, University of Kashmir Prof. Manzoor Ahmed Khan said that Dr Anjum has done a wonderful job by translating a masterpiece of Dr Shouqi Zaif into Urdu which will benefit the student’s community at large.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum has earlier authored 17 books including 5 in Arabic language and 12 in Urdu language. He has also published hundreds of articles in a various reputed magazines and newspapers.
