JAMMU, Aug 4: All Party United Morcha has decided to observe 6th anniversary of the degradation of the historic State of Jammu and Kashmir into the Union Territory tomorrow.
Convenor of the APUM, I D Khajuria while talking to media-persons said that in the era of democracy and federalism the Union Government of India on Aug 5, 2019 betrayed the people of Jammu & Kashmir with unilateral and undemocratic decision of downgrading our state of Jammu & Kashmir. For the first time in independent India’s history a prosperous State was downgraded and divided into the two UT’s.
He said all development works, political and economic powers have become most centralized in the office of Lt. Governor and consequently democratic institutions have been eroded. Even the Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir has expressed that in UT he has suffered silently for the past eight months then every citizen of Indian soil can imagine easily the living norms of the habitants of Jammu Kashmir.
Khajuria said on the instructions of Supreme Court elections were conducted but elected Government is subservient to unelected LG. Assurances were given to Supreme Court of India even in Parliament of India, it was announced that Jammu Kashmir will be restored as State very shortly. He said people are agitating for resolution of their burning demands. Employees, farmers, daily wagers, traders, transporters, backward areas people are facing immense problems. The leaders and activists of political parties and democratic organizations are being suppressed.
All the participants were unanimous to achieve Statehood the peaceful struggle will continue till the restoration of status and dignity of state subjects of Jammu Kashmir.
Khajuria was accompanied by Ravinder Sharma- senior Cong leader, Varinder Singh, Vijay Lochan- senior leaders of NC, Subash Mehta CPIM, Narinder Singh Khalsa- Akali Dal, Varinder Singh- PDP, Rakesh Kumar -CPI, Munish Sawhney- Shiv Sena UBT, Sunnykant Chib -Trade Unionist, Gyan Singh- ANC, Ranjit Singh- Trade Union leader, Kulbushan Singh- IDP, Narinder Khajuria and others.
