JAMMU, Mar 25: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has opposed the Government order regarding construction of a modern abbatoir in the Aloochi Bagh area of the Srinagar city. The Committee has appealed the Government to look for an alternate site for the construction of the abbatoir.
In a statement APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that the area selected for the construction of the modern abbatoir is surrounded primarily by Sikh population. He said the construction of the abbatoir would hurt the sentiments of the minority Sikh community.
“Coexistence is the mantra of a secular and democratic set up and as such sentiments as well as emotions of the different communities need to be taken into consideration by the Government. As such I would request the Government to drop the idea of constructing the abbatoir at Aloochi Bagh. The same can be constructed at any place in the vicinity where land is available and in such a manner the religious sentiments would not be hurt,” said Raina.
