Apple laden truck plunges into gorge; 1 dead, 2 injured

RAMBAN, Nov 18: One person died and two others were injured here today when a truck loaded with apples skidded off the road and landed near the Bisleri Nullah in Nachlana area.
Police received information that a truck bearing registration number JK09B-2814 loaded with apples while on way from Sopore to Agra rolled into a deep gorge at Nachlana area of Ramsu after the driver failed to control the vehicle.
The accident left three persons onboard the vehicle injured and they were trapped in the wreckage. They were retrieved with the assistance of 23 RR reinforcement and Civil QRT and were shifted to nearby Army Hospital where one of them died en-route.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Majid Lone, 49, son of Mohammad Maqbool Lone, resident of Magam Handwara.
The injured were identified as Manzoor Ahmed Peer, 34, son of Ghulam Mohammad Peer, resident of Geri Pore, Handwara and Bilal Ahmed Bhat, 46, son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, resident of Magam, Handwara.
Both the injured were admitted in Army Hospital, Nachlana.
Body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the Sub District Hospital Banihal for post-mortem and other legal formalities.
SSP, Arun Gupta said that a case in FIR number 72 of 2025 under section 281 /125A /106/ BNS has been registered in this regard and investigation started.
