JAMMU, June 20: Apni Party General Secretary Vijay Bakaya has expressed serious concern over the worsening water crisis in Jagti and Nagrota camps, where residents, especially tenants, according to him, are struggling due to the shortage of clean drinking water.
In a statement, Bakaya said people living in these camps have complained that the water being supplied is not only insufficient but also contaminated.
With rising temperatures, he said, this has increased fears of waterborne diseases and added to the daily hardships faced by families.
As such, Bakaya urged the administration and the Jal Shakti Department to take immediate steps to fix the problem.
He called for restoration and upgradation of water supply infrastructure, including installation of new bore wells and proper maintenance of existing systems.
He also demanded urgent inspections of water supply lines and storage facilities to locate and fix sources of contamination.
As a temporary measure, Bakaya asked for water tankers to be sent to the affected areas until a permanent solution is in place.
Bakaya said the Apni Party stands with the residents of Jagti and Nagrota camps in their fight for their basic rights.
He said access to clean drinking water is a fundamental need and must be treated as a top priority by the administration.
