JAMMU, July 12: To spread awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Aazaad Parindey Kala Manch (APKM), under the leadership of its president Mohit Singh, has launched a powerful campaign using nukkad nataks (street plays) across rural pockets of Jammu.
The campaign aims to inform and educate farmers about the Government-backed crop insurance scheme that safeguards them from financial losses caused by natural disasters such as heavy rains, floods, storms and other unforeseen calamities. The PMFBY, a flagship scheme of the Government of India, is designed to provide timely compensation for damaged crops, provided proper registration and reporting procedures are followed.
The street plays, currently being staged in various villages of Jammu and scheduled to continue in Udhampur over the next four to five days, are crafted in local dialects and delivered with an emotionally resonant narrative style. These performances simplify key aspects of the scheme – from the importance of early enrolment to guidelines for claiming insurance benefits – in a format that is both engaging and accessible.
Featuring compelling performances by Rishab Manhas, Aryan, Sheetal, Seema, and Aman, the initiative has struck a chord with rural audiences. Villagers responded warmly to the shows, many of them acknowledging that they were previously unaware of such provisions.
APKM has announced its plans to take the campaign to more remote and underserved areas in the coming weeks, ensuring that awareness about PMFBY reaches every farmer who stands to benefit from it.
