JAMMU, Sept 13: The American Oncology Institute (AOI), in collaboration with ASCOMS & Hospital, organized a medical conference on gallbladder cancer, bringing together oncologists, surgeons, and healthcare professionals from across the region.
The event focused on the latest updates and treatment strategies for the disease.
The conference began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and inaugural address by Chief Guest, MLA Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma and Guest of Honour Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal ASCOMS, where speakers appreciated AOI’s efforts in advancing cancer care in Jammu and Kashmir.
Experts shared insights on surgical methods, systemic therapies, and the role of radiation in treatment.
Dr Avinash Rajra, Consultant Surgical Oncology, spoke on surgical strategies, Dr Nadeem Showket, Consultant Medical Oncology, highlighted new developments in chemotherapy, and Dr Deepak Abrol, Senior Consultant Radiation Oncology, discussed the growing importance of radiation therapy.
A panel discussion on “Controversies in Gallbladder Cancer Management” added depth to the event by encouraging debate and collaborative learning.
Around 50 doctors from different medical institutions attended, reflecting strong interest in academic oncology and joint efforts to improve cancer treatment in the region.
Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, Regional COO, American Oncology Institute emphasised, “At AOI, our goal is not just to treat cancer but to empower the medical community with continuous education and access to global standards of care. Conference like this reaffirms our commitment to bridging the gap between technology, expertise, and patient-centric care in tier-II and tier-III cities like Jammu.”
