JAMMU, Dec 12: A delegation of Association of Industries (AOI), Gangyal led by its president Virendra Jain and comprising office bearers- Sanjay Langar, Ajay Mahajan and Jatinder Singh called on Vikramjeet Singh, Commissioner/Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, in the presence of Dr Arun Manhas, Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu and discussed issues related to Industries.
The meeting was conducted in a cordial and positive atmosphere, wherein the AOI raised a series of critical issues affecting the region’s Micro/Small industry. The Commissioner/ Secretary assured the delegation that the concerns would be examined favorably.
AOI urged the Govt to introduce a comprehensive new Incentive package to revive existing industry and attract fresh investment. It also called for the reinstatement of purchase/price preference for local MSMEs in Govt procurement and requested an extension of the turnover based incentive scheme introduced vide Govt order No. 127-Ind dated 21.05.2021. AOI stressed that the hospital should not be located within the industrial zone, as it could trigger stricter Pollution Control Board regulations and jeopardize consent-to-operate certificates for existing units.
The Association highlighted pending cases of interest subsidy claims that pre-date the GST regime and sought an expedited clearance mechanism. AOI also proposed amendments to SO 70, 71 and 72 to streamline procedural bottlenecks. AOI also requested the removal of clause 5.1 of SRO 63 which currently impedes modernization and expansion projects. In addition AOI sought clarification on the reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) for units undertaking substantial expansion/changing their line of activity or adding new manufacturing lines after 1st. April, 2021 urging alignment with the intent of amended SRO 63.
The dialogue today was a positive step toward addressing the long standing challenges faced by the industry, AOI president said.
