MOSCOW, April 4 : Any attempts by London to seize vessels linked to Russia are unacceptable, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin told RIA Novosti.
In March, the British government announced that UK military personnel would be able to board sanctioned vessels transiting its territorial waters. Furthermore, London will impose even more restrictions by closing British waters, including the English Channel, to sanctioned vessels.
The statement said the measure affects the so-called “shadow fleet,” allegedly engaged in transporting Russian energy resources.
“The intention announced at the level of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to seize civilian vessels linked to our country in British territorial waters is yet another deeply hostile step towards Russia… We regard any attempts by the British side to seize vessels linked to our country as unacceptable and impermissible,” Kelin said.
