SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir today arrested an interstate “hardcore narcotics drug supplier” from Mumbai after conducting a series of raids across the city, an ANTF spokesperson said.
An ANTF spokesperson identified the arrested man as Sartaj Ahmed Mansoori, a resident of Kannamwar Nagar, Vikroli East, Tagore Nagar, Mumbai. “He was wanted by Police Station ANTF Jammu in connection with FIR No. 15/2022 under various sections of the NDPS Act,” the spokesperson said.
He said a team from the unit carried out multiple raids in different parts of Mumbai and apprehended Mansoori near Kala Pani Junction on Byculla Road in Agripada. He was described as the main receiver of commercial quantities of narcotic drugs in the case. The spokesperson said Mansoori deposited money in the accounts of drug dealers in Kashmir, who concealed drugs in trucks from the Valley to Mumbai. “He would then collect the consignments and sell them to local youth for profit,” spokesperson added.
The spokesperson described the arrest as a “significant triumph” in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, adding that it offers “much-needed relief” to law enforcement agencies and the youth of Jammu.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said, ANTF has appealed to the public, especially young people, to stay away from drugs and to share information on drug distributors and peddlers with the agency. He assured that the identity of informers would be kept strictly confidential.
