Another undertrial dies in Udhampur District Jail

UDHAMPUR, Oct 18: Another undertrial prisoner, facing charges of narcotic smuggling, today died under mysterious circumstances at Udhampur District Jail.
This was the second mysterious death of undertrial at Udhampur district Jail within four days.
According to a police spokesman, Sukhvinder Singh (37) son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Resham Ghar Colony Jammu was found unconscious at Jail Barrack in Udhampur Jail, early this morning. Jail staff rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Jammu in view of his e serious condition. However, he died on the way to GMC Jammu.
Later, a Board of doctors conducted post-mortem of the body. The doctors said further details will be known after the post-mortem report is received.
A case has been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur and investigation is going on.
Pertinent to mention that another under- trial prisoner, who was booked under PSA, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on October 14 at Udhampur District Jail. The deceased, Sewa Singh (59), son of Gourav Singh, resident of Chalwas, Tehsil Bhagwa District Doda, was found dead in his barrack.
