Another drug peddler detained under PIT NDPS Act

UDHAMPUR, Oct 13: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police today detained another notorious drug peddler under PIT NDPS Act besides arresting a drug peddler and attaching property worth Rs 12.75 lakh of another accused of narcotic smuggling.
According to Police, a notorious drug peddler namely Koushal Sharma alias Biru, son of Kaka Ram, resident of Kambal Danga, Rehambal, Udhampur, was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The accused was repeatedly involved in drug peddling and had been actively promoting drug abuse among local youth posing a serious threat to public safety and health.
The detention order was executed today by the Police team of PS Rehambal and the accused has been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, District Jammu. He is the 12th drug peddler detained by Udhampur Police under PIT NDPS Act during the current year.
In another success, Police party of Police Station Rehambal apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling duty in the Chak area when the accused was coming on foot from Mageni towards Chak Morh.
The accused was identified as Chetan , son of Lt. Ashok Kumar, resident of Balmiki Colony, Chopra Shop Tehsil & District Udhampur. During his personal search, 6.12 grams of heroin along with a polypouch was recovered from him.
In this regard, case FIR No. 165/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and the investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police attached moveable property worth Rs 12.75 lakhs (approximately) belonging to drug peddler Rahul Sharma, son of Yog Raj, resident of Village Kidmoo, Ramnagar, under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.
The attached/seized property includes two cars valued approximately Rs 12,75,000/-. The attachment order was issued by the investigating officer as part of ongoing proceedings under the NDPS Act.
