UDHAMPUR, Aug 7: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking in the district, Udhampur Police today detained another notorious drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act after obtaining formal orders from the competent authority.
The detainee, namely Tarun Gupta alias Kaka , son of Ved Parkash , resident of Ward number 01, Jakhani Near Gujjar Hostel, Tehsil and District Udhampur, has been actively involved in promoting the drug trade in Udhampur and was found to be supplying narcotic substances to the local youth, posing a serious threat to public health and societal well-being. Several cases stand registered against him at different police stations across the district.
This is the second such PIT NDPS detention warrant executed by Udhampur Police this week as part of its intensified campaign against drug peddlers.
