Another ceasefire violation by Pak Army on LoC

JAMMU, Apr 28:  In the past four days, Pakistan Army today violated ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) for second time this morning by resorting to firing on forward Indian positions at Mitti Dhara in Chingus area of Rajouri district. Indian troops retaliated effectively.
Army spokesman Col Manish Mehta said Pakistan Army violated ceasefire in BG sector at 5.15 am today using semi automatic and automatic weapons. He added that the Indian troops retaliated using similar caliber weapons.
“No damage or casualties on our side were reported,” Col Mehta said.
Official sources said Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian posts in Mitti Dhara area on the LoC near Chingus in Bhimber Gali (BG) sector of Rajouri district this morning. Pakistan Army fired at least three rockets using Rocket Projectile Guns (RPGs) towards the Indian posts but they missed the target. Pakistan Army also used heavy caliber weapons in the firing for some time.
Sources said the Indian side responded equally, leading to heavy exchanges till 6.30 am after which the firing ceased.
Sources didn’t rule out the possibility of Pakistan Army trying to push a group of militants into the Indian side under the covering fire but added that the troops didn’t observe movement of the militants. However, Army troops opened firing at different directions to neutralize the militants, if any, trying to enter into the Indian territory under covering fire of the Pakistani troops.
Army also conducted searches in forward areas of Chingus during the day today but there were no traces of militants leading to this side.
This was second incident of ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army during past four days. On April 25, Pakistan Army had opened heavy firing and also lobbed mortar shells towards Indian positions at Shahpur Kirni in Poonch sector.
Sources said in both ceasefire violations, Indian troops didn’t suffer any casualties or damage. They added that the Indian side had to retaliate to silence the Pakistani guns.
Sources said the Indian side was likely to lodge a strong protest with Pakistan Army over two ceasefire violations during past four days.
The Indian side believed that no infiltration attempts by the militants were visible during ceasefire violations, Pakistan Army might be trying to divert the focus of the troops to push militants from other routes.
As already reported, a number of militants were camping across the LoC awaiting an opportunity to sneak into this side. Earlier also, Pakistan Army had given covering fire to the militants several times to help them infiltrate into the Indian side but their plan was foiled by the troops from this side.
Sources said barring two, there had been no major ceasefire violations along the LoC this year in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
