Another bovine smuggler detained under PSA

UDHAMPUR, July 8: Udhampur Police have booked another bovine smuggler, namely Sher Ali, son of Mohd Sadiq of Dhamma, Majalta, under the J&K Public Safety Act (PSA).
According to Police, Sher Ali was involved in several bovine smuggling and theft cases registered in the district. Despite multiple FIRs and previous arrests, he continued his illegal activities, posing a serious threat to public peace. Consequently, he has been booked under the PSA and lodged in jail.
The detention order was issued by the District Magistrate Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Police rescued seven bovine animals by foiling two attempt of smuggling.
During naka checking at Roun Domail, Police intercepted a Santro car bearing registration number JK02W-0044, which was coming from the Manwal side. On spotting the naka party, driver abandoned the vehicle and fled away from the spot. Upon checking, three bovine animals were found cruelly packed in the car.
Police rescued the bovines and seized the car besides registering FIR under section 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act at Police Station Udhampur.
Based on reliable information that an unknown person was taking four bovine animals (oxen) on foot from Kasuri (Kainthgali) towards Kashmir via Ludh Dhar Sanasar, Police team reached Gucen Morh, Meer. However, before the Police team reached the spot, the alleged smuggler fled away leaving behind the animals.
All bovines were rescued safely and FIR No. 33/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Panchari.
