Another accused nabbed in high- profile narco-arms syndicate case

JAMMU, Jan 9: Jammu Police have achieved further significant progress in the high-profile narco-arms syndicate case earlier busted by Police Station Gandhi Nagar, following a deep, sustained and professional investigation.
The case pertains to FIR Number 249/2025 registered on November 14, 2025, under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), after two persons were apprehended during routine patrolling. Subsequent investigation led to the unearthing of a well-organized inter-district, inter-state and cross-border narcotics and arms network with suspected narco-terror linkages.
During the course of investigation, several accused-including drug peddlers, financial handlers and jail-based facilitators-were arrested. Police also recovered approximately 4.95 kg of heroin-like substance, three pistols, live ammunition and a modified vehicle, exposing the syndicate’s wide operational spread and cross-border connections.
In the latest development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted under the supervision of SP City South and SDPO City South, has arrested another accused identified as Rohit Kumar alias Makhan, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Raiyan Kotliyan, RS Pura, Jammu. He was apprehended on January 3, 2026.
Following his disclosure, the SIT conducted a search at his residence on January 7, 2026, leading to the recovery of a Px5 Storm Beretta pistol (.30 bore), one magazine and three live rounds. The recovered arms and ammunition were seized in the instant case.
The accused is currently in police custody and is being interrogated to ascertain his precise role, arms supply routes and backward and forward linkages. Police have intensified efforts to trace financial and logistical networks and to apprehend the remaining associates to establish the complete cross-border and interstate nexus.
