JAMMU, Nov 11: Organized by Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, the Annual Drama Festival 2018, is all set to offer a bonanza of 22 plays in Dogri, Punjabi, Kashmiri Hindi, Urdu and Hindustani languages to the theater aficionados of the winter capital.
The feast will open with Samooh Theatre’s play Dozakh, directed by Ravinder Sharma to be followed by Vomedh Rangmanch’s Kashmiri play Gaad Baht under the direction of Rohit Bhat. Punjabi play Kuleshney, directed by T.S. Premi by Manoranjan Kala Manch, Sandeep Verma directed N.D. Jamwal’s Dogri play Kunju Chanchalo by Unison Cultural Troupe, Vikram Sharma’s play Karamgati, directed by Shalini by group Lakshya The Aim.
Rajneesh Gupta’s play Shah-Shahani, directed of Neha Lahotra by Bhartiya Kala Sangam, Sunil Sharma directed play Ek Aur Durghatna by Hill Thespian, Roheet Verma’s Gudiya Azad by Naqaib Rangmanch, Kashmiri play Samanbal written and directed by Makhan Lal Saraf by Bhoorang Foundation.
Other plays include Prashant Sareen’s ‘Written His Dairy’ by The Performers, Sapna Soni directed Doosra Admai Doosari Aurat by The Kalamkars, Other than Karamgati, Vikram Sharma’s three more plays figuring in the fest are Pishach Yatra, Padaav, Ardha Kavya Hadsa Haqeeqat to be staged by Hardeep Dance & Cultural Society, Society for Environment, Education and Modern Art, Shivani Cultural Society respectively.
Rajneesh Gupta’s Tandav will be staged by Viraj Kala Kendra, Balraj Bakshi’s Kanoon Shikan by Nav Durga Kala Manch, Kirpal Singh Kasali’s Punjabi play Nachangi Sari Raat by J&K Bhoomi Human Welfare Society, Bhupinder Singh’s Oedipus by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Garish Karnad’s Nagamandala by Natya Karmi, Aadhe Adhure by Yamini Cultural Society, Sir Sir Sarla by Pancham. The festival will conclude on December 7, 2018, with Macbeth in Dogri by Natraj Natya Kunj.
