Annual conference of IAOHNS held

JAMMU, Aug 12: The 9th edition of the National Annual Conference of the IAOHNS (Indian Academy of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery) was organized under the aegis Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Multi-Speciality Hospital at convention centre, Gulami Bagh, here today.
The beautiful convention centre with its state-of-the-art conference halls and sprawling lawns was host to a gathering of ENT Surgeons, residents and students who had gathered there to take part in the academic fest.
This Academy was founded in 2014 by a group of eminent like-minded ENT Surgeons in their collective pursuit of excellence in the field of ENT Head and Neck Surgery. It is headed by Padma Shri Dr Mohan Kameshwaran and includes stalwarts like Dr Madan Kapre (a world reputed Thyroid Surgeon), Dr Naresh Panda (HoD, ENT and Dean Academics PGI Chandigarh), Dr Vijay Krishnan and others.
First day of the Conference was a preconference workshop in which live surgeries were conducted and demonstrated to the audience by the famous ENT Surgeon Dr Satish Jain of Jaipur. He demonstrated the latest surgical techniques as well as his own innovations in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Cochlear Implant Surgery in difficult scenarios, Mastoid Surgery and Ossiculoplasty with emphasis on Thyroid and Parotid Surgery using a microscope.
The audience was mesmerized by his dexterity of hand and clarity of concepts. With a focus on delivering comprehensive surgical training, sessions on temporal bone dissection and functional endoscopic surgery were conducted under the guidance of Dr Prashant Naik, Dr Padam Singh and Dr Sonika Kanotra.
