JAMMU, Aug 17: Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu organized a procession here to commemorate the 40th Day (Chehlum) of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions who sacrificed their lives in Karbala.
During his address Maulana Syed Iftikhar Hussain Jaffari highlighted the importance of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions. He added that we should always stand by the oppressed. Special prayers were also held for the victims of cloudburst at Dharali (Uttarkashi), Chashoti- Paddar and victims of Ghaza.
The procession passed through the traditional route from Peer Mitha, Lakhdata Bazaar, Rajinder Bazaar, Shaheedi Chowk and culminated at Karbala complex Wazarat Road, Jammu.
People from different faiths and regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh attended the Majlis and paid rich tribute to the martyrs. A three-day Majlis was aslo organized in which Maulana Syed Iftikhar Hussain Jaffari addressed the gathering of mourners. He passionately narrated the motive behind the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions at Karbala. All the lectures were based on the values and ideology of Islam and how Imam Hussain (A.S) offered himself and his family members to save the values of Islam.
President Anjuman-e-Imamia Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that it is because of the `shahadat’ of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions the Islam is alive. He sacrificed everything for the sake of Humanity and Islam. He further added that after 1400 years people still observed Moharram with same passion.
Prof Sujat Khan general secretary Anjuman said that the message of Karbala is loud and clear that everyone must come out of ignorance and fight against those who are killing and committing atrocities across the world. This procession is a peaceful and spiritual gathering that reflects the eternal message of Karbala-resistance against oppression, protection of human values, and promotion of peace and brotherhood.
Vice president Anjuman Syed Afaq Hussain Kazmi while interacting with media said that Imam Hussain (A.S) doesn’t belongs to a particular community but his ideas were adopted by many world level personalities and they personify Imam Hussain (A.S) in their lectures and books.
Many other prominent persons also spoke on the occasion.
