KATHUA, Nov 27: Angan-wadi workers and helpers held a  demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Kathua today in support of their long pending demands.
The demonstration was held under the banner of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association a unit of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS). The protesters demanded hike in salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers to Rs 15000 and Rs 10,000 respectively per month.
While addressing the workers the senior leader BMS Lakshman Ravinder Singh, Subash Verma president BMS, Ashok Choudhary its general secretary, Ishfaq Hamid Chouhan vice president, Sawarna Choudhary, president Anganwadi Association, Sushma Devi district president of the Association, Nirmal Devi and Kiran Pathania highlighted various problems of the Anganwadi workers and helpers.
They said that the prices of essential commodities have touched the sky and instead of increasing the salary the department is asking workers to perform six hour duty.
They demanded that the salaries be paid month wise and the salary register be maintained as the workers are facing harassment through the hands of authorities on this account.
They further demanded that the nutrition should be given properly and the same be provided at Anganwadi centers besides the carriage charges and TA and DA be paid to workers. The protesters demanded 100 percent promotions be given among the workers to the post of supervisors.
