JAMMU, Feb 25: As a part of their provincial level programme, Anganwadi workers and helpers from various Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), projects under State Social Welfare Department today held strong protest demonstration and dharna at MA Stadium here today.
A large number of workers from various ICDS projects assembled near Jewel Chowk and then moved towards the venue of protest M A Stadium’s main gate in Jammu in the morning. They were carrying banners and placards in hands projecting their demands. They also shouted slogans against the Government and also in support of their demands.
These agitating Anganwadi workers and helpers who are working on very meager amount are demanding enhancement of their honorarium to Rs 10,000 per month for the Anganwadi workers and Rs 6000 for the Helpers & according 80 % promotion for them as per Central guidelines, release of their pending wages, ensuring payment every month regularly, withdrawal of termination order of Anganwadi workers and helpers issued by Director Mission on 22-4-2015, which stand stayed by the High Court, amendment in recruitment rules and removal of pay anomalies in the grade of ICDS supervisors.
Several senior office bearers of Angawandi Workers Welfare Association including Rattna Devi, Mehjbeen, Swarna Kumari, Hanifa Begum, Tripta Kumari, Raj Kumari, Shakeela, Santosh Kumari and others addressed the gathering and criticized the State Government and higher authorities in the Social Welfare Department for causing delay in addressing their long pending issues.
Senior trade unionist, Ganfoor Dar from NTUF also addressed the gathering and urged upon the Government to resolve the pending issues of the Anganwadi workers and helpers. He demanded framing of regularization policy for the Anganwadi, casual and temporary workers, removal of pay anomalies, enhancement of honorarium of AWWs and Helpers. He also projected demands of other State employees.
