Anganwadi workers demand hike in salaries

JAMMU, Nov 8: Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) demanded increase in the salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers to Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 per month respectively.
Addressing a press conference, Ashok Choudhary, Prabhari, AWWA, said that the prices of the essential commodities are touching sky and the Government should raise the salary of Anganwadi workers and helpers to Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 per month respectively.
Choudhary added that the Government has increased the working hours of Anganwadi workers to six hours, but has not increased their salaries, which is grave injustice with them.
He added that the payment of the Anganwadi workers and helpers should be released per month and proper salary book should be maintained for information to the workers.
He demanded 100 per cent promotion for Anganwadi workers to supervisors with proper seniority list, appointments of supervisor in all districts impartially, constitution of Tripartite Grievances Committees as per ICDS scheme to solve day-to-day problems at district level, nutrition system should be improved, nutrition should be given quarterly with carriages charges, TA and DA should be given to attend meetings, uniforms should be given to workers and helpers as per Central Government guidelines.
He also demanded payment of fuel charges, rent to the workers and introduction of ESIE PF for welfare of the workers.
