SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Continuing the developmental journey of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Chairperson, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi dedicated new infrastructural works to the public at the famous shrine of Peer Dastgir Sahib in Khanyar area of Srinagar today.
The event was held within the premises of the holy shrine, where Dr Andrabi inaugurated multiple works including the Administrative Block, Imams’ residential quarters and the open ablution facility. Waqf Board Member, Syed Mohammad Hussain accompanied Dr Andrabi.
While addressing the inauguration event, the Board Chairperson said that multiple developmental works have been undertaken by the Board at this famous shrine during the past three years of transformation and accountability.
“After freeing the management of our shrines from political manipulation, the era of development started throughout J&K. People are witness to the utilization of the Waqf resources for construction, development and up-gradation in all sectors of the Board. Our shrines have now become the places of utmost beauty with all required facilities for the visitors”, Dr Darakhshan said.
She said that a clear vision of transforming the Board by freeing the management from all parochial motives and by adopting proper lawful mechanisms and introduction of accountability and transparency has fetched these results
Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin & Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad and others were also present.
Later Dr Andrabi chaired the Meraj-e-Aalam preparedness review meeting with the representatives of the administration. She emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to facilitate the people during the festival. A roadmap for effective services was chalked out during the meeting.
It was attended by SP Hazratbal Hilal Ahmad, SDM Zubair Ahmad, DySP Traffic Mehmoob-ul-Haq, DySP Hazratbal Showkat Ahmad Beig, General Manager SRTC, Executive Engineer Water Works Aijaz Rafiq, BMO Dr Majid, AEE PDD Masroor Hussain and officials from other departments.
