SRINAGAR, Dec 16: The Northern Army Commander Lt General D Anbu today asked the troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) for strict vigil in difficult weather conditions to foil infiltration attempts of the militants.
The Northern Command chief stressed for strict vigil along the LoC as the militants may try to infiltrate into Kashmir despite snowfall in hills, which has blocked the infiltration routes.
He visited the Formations and Units in North Kashmir for a review of the prevailing security situation. He was accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen JS Sandhu, who briefed the Army Commander about the winter preparedness of the formations and measures taken to meet the challenges posed by weather.
“The Army Commander also interacted with the troops on ground and emphasised on the need for undertaking relentless intelligence based operations to sustain pressure on the terrorist organizations”, a statement issued by the Defence spokesman said here.
“Commending the troops for their dedication to duty and high standards of professionalism, the General Officer asked them to continue strict vigil to thwart any nefarious designs of inimical elements despite the prevalent weather conditions”, he said.
The Army Commander also reinforced the need for synergy amongst all the other security agencies to effectively meet any emerging security challenges and maintain a safe, secure and peaceful environment for the people.
