JAMMU, Feb 8: Anand Nagar, Lane No. 02. Bhori, residents are facing acute drinking water scarcity for over a month. In a statement through Brij Krishan Bhat, the residents alleged that despite taps installed in every household under the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Mission, not a single drop flows-even today. This violates our fundamental right to clean water under Article 21 of the Constitution and undermines the vision of inclusive, Viksit Bharat development.
The residents said frequent power outages by the Electricity Department, halting tube well operations, inadequate infrastructure at tube wells, no backup water motors or generators, worsening shortages during peak periods and coming festivals like Maha Shivratri are the root causes of the water scarcity.
The residents alleged that these failures by the Electricity and Jal Shakti Departments disrupt two essential life-saving commodities, power and water. The Electricity Department’s unbearable cuts have made the situation intolerable.
They demanded immediate on-site inspection by senior officials from both departments, swift restoration of water supply, including installation of power generators, extra backup water motors, and at least four permanent workmen at every tube well, full accountability through a thorough investigation into mismanagement.
