JAMMU, Dec 14: Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to Chief Minister, J&K and former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, today visited Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal where he was felicitated for his immense contributions to the State and the Nation in diverse domains.
On the occasion, Prof Mattoo was provided an overview of the achievements of MIET. The quality analytics framework Performance Insight 360 was also demonstrated to him by Prof Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET and Prof S K Sharma, Director, Academics.
In his address Prof Mattoo lauded the vision of the leadership team at MIET and expressed pleasure in the rapid strides made by MIET in the last few years. He was impressed by demonstrated excellence in research and development and by MIET’s evolution into a practicing engineering college. He specially mentioned the software for quality analytics framework designed and implemented by MIET. He wished MIET the best for future growth and hoped to see it emerge as a front-ranking institution at the national level. He opined that it is imperative for policy makers and administrators to back institutions which invest in excellence and described educational institutions as the bedrock for economic growth of a State.
Finally, he spelled out three key takeaways for succeeding in the ever-changing global scenario – ask the right questions, place teams over individuals and cultivate ability to work across cultures and geographic boundaries.
Earlier, Chairman, MIER Group, Dr Arun K Gupta formally welcomed Prof Mattoo describing him as a gifted scholar, erudite administrator, visionary leader and an affable human being. He expressed confidence that Prof Mattoo in his capacity as Advisor to the Chief Minister, J&K, would help in devising new policies and strategies which besides being progressive shall provide the necessary healing touch to the State.
He later felicitated Prof Mattoo by presenting him with a memento.
Prof G S Sambyal, Professor of Computer Applications at MIET and former Registrar of JU, spoke about the landmark reforms and initiatives by Prof Mattoo.
Prof Mattoo was accompanied by Masood Malik, Senior Domain Architect at Telstra Australia and an expert in Information Technology.
Other dignitaries, present on the occasion, included Dr Minakshi Kilam, Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, JU, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER Group, Prof B S Komal, Head, Applied Sciences, Prof P N Sharma, Head, MBA and Prof Vijay Kaul, Dean Academics, MIET.
