JAMMU, Mar 3: To review the functioning of Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (MULCO) at its headquarters in the capital Aizawl, Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Cooperation Department paid a visit today.
He was received by MULCO, Managing Director Harsh Vardhan and Manager Lalhmunliani.
The primary objective of visit was to assess its working along with boosting-up its production, expanding market base with better marketing and branding its operations.
Amit Sharma held detailed deliberations there on several novel initiatives to improve milk production through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies located all across the state which is the need of the hour.
At this juncture, Amit Sharma asked MULCO to keep taking various initiatives such as ensuring provision of cattle feed at subsidized rates to the cattle rearing farmers, giving competitive rates to the farmers for milk, expanding marketing base of MULCO and sell milk and milk products to key places such as Assam Rifles, Army and similar organisations to meet their huge daily requirements.
Amit took an extensive round of milk production plant having a capacity of handling 20,000 litres per day, quality control testing labs, packaging units and multi-product producing units like Lassi, Paneer, Sweet Curd, Desi Ghee, Rasgullas and directed the officials to keep multiple layers of checks and measures to have a better outreach in the market vis-a-vis other brands.
