JAMMU, Jan 30: Govern-ment is contemplating an ambitious plan for promotion of pilgrimage tourism at holy township of Mattan where the world famous Sun temple and holy springs are situated.
To improve facilities for visiting pilgrims cum tourists to this religious place the, the Municipal Committee Mattan is constructing a grand Yatri Bhawan at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh at Mattan under CTP Scheme.
This was stated by Yasir Ahmed, chairman Municipal Committee Mattan and Rakesh Kaul councilor Ward 11, Bumzoo, Mattan. They said during a meeting with District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantang the MC Mattan was given instructions to take steps for development of town as a destination of pilgrimage tourism.
Under the scheme special attention will be paid to drainage and beautification of Mattan township, they said. Rakesh Koul said alone Rs 60 lakh have been earmarked for Bumzoo Ward 11. He said Rs 58 lakh will be utilized for basic infrastructure like MC Sucre, Cooper, dustbins and lights by the MC. He said Rs 17,000 have been provided to people below poverty line for construction of mud house and the amount has been sanctioned by Director Local Bodies. He said to provide relief to people the MC Mattan put its men and machinery in action to remove snow from all the paths and roads during the recent snow fall in the township.
