No Yatra from Jammu today: Div Com

JAMMU, July 30: Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra remained suspended from both Baltal and Nunwan-Pahalgam due to heavy rains and slippery tracks today.
The decision of suspending the Yatra from both tracks was taken by authorities in view of bad weather conditions and heavy rains that lashed the yatra area today, officials said.
“Shri Amarnathji Yatra has been suspended for 30.07.2025 from both Pahalgam and Baltal base camps,” Department of Information and Public Relations, Jammu and Kashmir, posted on its X handle.
It said Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said that due to heavy rains since early this morning, the yatra has not been allowed on the tracks from Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps.

So far, more than 3.93 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine. The yatra shall remain suspended from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Thursday.
“Due to the heavy rains in the yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from base camps has been affected. Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement shall be allowed towards the base camps Baltal and Nunwan from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu on July 31, 2025,” the DIPR said.
However, 83 pilgrims including 41 males, one female and 41 security personnel performed darshan at cave shrine today. With this a total number of 3,93,484 pilgrims visited the Himalayan cave in South Kashmir district during last 28 days of darshan from different parts of country.
The yatra will remain suspended from Jammu too on Thursday due to the inclement weather conditions.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said, “In view of the inclement weather conditions on the yatra routes, as an abundant precaution, the ongoing Amarnath Yatra convoy will not move from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu on July 31.”
He further said that due to heavy rains in the yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from base camps in Kashmir has been affected. “Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement shall be allowed towards the base camps Baltal and Nunwan from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on July 31,” he said.
Meanwhile, yatra continued from Jammu amid heavy rains as another batch of more than 1300 pilgrims left from here on Wednesday for the twin base camps of Amarnath Ji shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas.
The 28th batch of pilgrims, which included 1,070 men, 210 women, 2 children, 57 Sadhus and Sadhvis, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here in 58 vehicles for the twin base camps in Kashmir between 3:28 am and 3.47 am, escorted by CRPF and police personnel, officials said.
The first pilgrim convoy, carrying 322 pilgrims in 16 vehicles, left for the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in the Ganderbal district, followed by the second convoy of 1,017 pilgrims in 42 vehicles, who are undertaking the yatra via the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route in the Anantnag district, they said.
With this, a total of 14,41,24 pilgrims have departed from the Jammu base camp for the Valley since July 2, when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch.
The pilgrimage is scheduled to culminate on August 9, coinciding with Sawan Purnima and the Raksha Bandhan festivals when holy mace will reach the cave shrine from its abode Dashnami Akhara Srinagar. The holy mace will leave Srinagar on August 4 and reach cave shrine on August 9 morning.
Meanwhile, view of maintenance works required to be carried out on the Pahalgam Axis of Shri Amarnathji Yatra route following the recent rains, the Yatra shall continue only through Baltal Axis.
“Due to the recent heavy rains, urgent repair and maintenance works are required to be carried out on the Pahalgam Axis of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route. The Yatra shall continue from the Baltal axis from 1st August onwards”, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said.
