KATRA, Dec 12: The School of Mathematics at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a vibrant and inspiring Alumni Interaction Programme that brought together distinguished alumni, faculty members, and students for an engaging exchange of experiences, achievements, and future aspirations.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr Sandeep Sharma, Assistant Professor and Alumni Coordinator. Prominent alumnus Sulinder Singh, Statistical Officer in the Planning Department, J&K (UT), shared his professional journey and offered valuable insights to the gathering. Dr Ambika Bhat, Assistant Professor at GCET Jammu, also addressed the participants, motivating students by narrating her inspiring academic journey and achievements.
Senior faculty member Prof V K Bhat spoke about the steady growth and accomplishments of the department over the years, highlighting its expanding academic footprint. Dr Rakesh Kumar, Head of the School of Mathematics and convener of the event, outlined the major achievements of the School and encouraged the organizers to hold such interactions regularly for the benefit of students.
The programme was graced by chief guest Dr Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Dean, International and Alumni Affairs, who emphasized the significance of collective alumni engagements at the university level and assured continued support for such initiatives in the future.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and research scholars, making it a memorable and impactful gathering. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by co-coordinator Dr Sunil K Sharma.
