Leh, Apr 11: The All Ladakh Travel Trade Alliance (ALTTA), an apex body representing various tourism and tourism related transport unions in Leh, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the recent launch of the official Ladakh Tourism portal by the Union Territory administration.
Addressing a press conference here, Chairman of the alliance Tsetan Angchuk said that the portal was launched without taking key tourism stakeholders into confidence. He stated that major associations, including tour operators, taxi unions, bikers’ groups, and other bodies, who fall under tourism industry in Ladakh, were not consulted prior to its rollout.
ALTTA leaders emphasized that such an important initiative should have involved those directly connected with the tourism sector. They hinted that the portal, in its current form, is unlikely to benefit local stakeholders and may instead create confusion and disruption within the existing tourism system.
Tsetan Angchuk said that any policy or digital intervention must align with ground realities and include the participation of local stakeholders.
The alliance urged the administration to hold proper consultations with all concerned groups, and ensure that the interests of Ladakh’s tourism community are protected. Ladakh travel bodies reiterated that Ladakh Resident Certificate (LRC) should be made mandatory for all business establishments in the travel trade sector operating in the region.
