Alok Kumar visits Chandanwari to assess fire safety measures

Srinagar, July 16: Alok Kumar, ADGP Director of Fire and Emergency Services today visited Chandanwari to assess the fire safety arrangements in place for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023.
Over two days starting from July 15, 2023, Kumar toured all the Yatra base camps along the Pahalgam Axis, including Pantha Chowk, Mir Bazar, Nunwan, Mamal Helipad, and Chandanwari.
During his visit, the Director thoroughly examined the fire safety measures implemented at each camp to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
He expressed his satisfaction with the arrangements and praised the preparedness of the deployed Firemen in handling any emergency.
Kumar also acknowledged the efforts of the other stakeholders involved in the pilgrimage for their contributions to overall safety.
In his interactions with the officers and Firemen, the Director emphasized the significance of the holy yatra and urged them to remain vigilant and alert to provide prompt and efficient responses to emergency calls.
Additionally, he was briefed by the camp Directors and officers from various security agencies about the comprehensive arrangements made to ensure a secure and safe pilgrimage.
Particular recognition was given to the firemen stationed at the Nunwan base camp. The camp Director informed the Director about a recent fire incident that occurred at the camp, highlighting the swift response and prompt action taken by the firemen to control the fire at its initial stage.
This incident served as an example of the firemen’s dedication and effectiveness in protecting the pilgrims and the camps.
Accompanying Alok Kumar during his visit were the Command Officer of the Fire and Emergency Services in Anantnag, as well as other officials from the department.
