JAMMU, Dec 14: A 3-day UT level Kala Utsav event-2022 was was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary, Schoold Education Department at Teachers Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu here today.
It has been organised by the Samagra Shiksha wing of the Department of School Education. Alok Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries, and wearing ethnic Dogra ‘Pagris’ to the dignitaries. Few cultural performances were also presented to reflect the cultural flavours of different socio-geographical regions of the J&K.
Principal Secretary, in his address congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to put their best efforts for final performances at the National level. He said Government of India has been implementing various schemes for providing better platforms to children for showcasing their talent in different fields. He stressed upon teachers and parents to avail maximum benefit out of these schemes for overall nurturing of children.
Kumar also reiterated that ‘Parkisha Pe Charcha’, is a part of the larger movement – ‘Exam Warriors’- led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to create a stress-free atmosphere for youngsters and where the unique individuality of each child is celebrated, encouraged and allowed to express itself fully. He regarded PPC as much-awaited and joyful event for all.
Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj Kanethia reiterated that Samagra Shiksha focuses more on holistic approach towards providing quality education integrated with Art & Culture, Sports and other domains in alignment with New Education Policy-2020. He said that, Kala Utsav encompasses a complete process of identifying, exploring, practicing, evolving and understanding our tangible and intangible cultural expressions, which enables the participants to live the complete cultural experience besides enhancing variegated skills of the participants and preparing them as ambassadors of our culture.
Students belonging to different districts, who performed at their best at Divisional Level Kala Utsav Competitions, are participating in the three days’ event to showcase their mesmerizing performances. A total of 40 performances are to be showcased during the event. The best among them under various categories of art forms, one male and one female (in each category), shall be shortlisted for National level event which is scheduled to be held in the month of January, 2023 at Bhuvneshwar, Orissa.
Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu, Director Finance Iftikhar Hussain, Special Secretary, SED Nasir Wani and Parshotam Kumar, Joint Director Planning, also graced the event.
