Al-Qaeda operative arrested in Ramban

JAMMU, Nov 7: An operative of terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda was arrested with a hand grenade in Ramban district today.
He has been identified as Amiruddin Khan son of Mostafa han, a resident of Mashita Haora in West Bengal.

He was arrested by a police party from Ramban along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, police said.
They said a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the possession of the Al-Qaeda operative.
A case under relevant sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act and Explosive Act has been registered against the arrested accused at Ramban police station and further investigation is going on, they added.
The Al-Qaeda operative has been sent for sustained interrogation to ascertain his motive of visiting Ramban along with pistol.
However, there were reports that he was planning to engage youth into his outfit to intensify militant activities in the otherwise peaceful district of Ramban.
Police will also establish contact with their West Bengal counterparts to ascertain past activities of Amiruddin Khan.
