NEW DELHI, Oct 30: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon today strongly pleaded to the Central Government for providing ration quota to J&K as per the 2011 Census.
The Minister said this while addressing the Food Ministers Conference here today.
The Minister said being the border State of the country, the ration provided to J&K on the basis of 2001 Census is not fulfilling the requirement of the J&K as the population of the State has increased manifold. He also pleaded to release the funds for digitization of records of CA&PD for which State Government has already formulated IN to IN computerization project.
Regarding supply of ration for Centrally sponsored welfare schemes, the Minister demanded to continue last year’s quota for this year also. He also said that in J&K there is a dire need to enhance the capacity of ration godowns for which proposal to Central Government for funding has already been submitted.
