JAMMU, Sept 16: In a significant push towards strengthening sustainable transport infrastructure in Jammu, a deputation of the All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) led by its Chairman Karan Singh Wazir met Devansh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Ltd., to discuss the delayed implementation of finalized electric bus (e-bus) routes.
The deputation apprised the CEO that a comprehensive list of intra-city and intercity e-bus routes had already been approved by a high-level committee chaired by the CEO Smart City in the presence of the Transport Commissioner and Regional Transport Officer (RTO). However, despite this approval, execution on the ground had not progressed as expected.
The AJKTWA members expressed their concern that the delay was creating operational uncertainty and scheduling difficulties for transporters and drivers, while also slowing down efforts to improve public mobility in the city. Giving a patient hearing, CEO Devansh Yadav assured the Association that ninety percent of the finalized routes had already been documented and formally recorded.
To ensure transparency and accountability, he directed the In-Charge of e-bus operations under the Smart City project to prepare a detailed status report within three days outlining the current stage of implementation. He further assured that a follow-up meeting would be held promptly after submission of the report to take concrete steps toward full execution of the approved routes.
The deputation, apart from Chairman, included chief patron AJKTWA Parvinder Singh, president Vijay Singh Chib, Bharat Sharma, Gourav Kapoor, Gurdeep Singh, Labh Singh.
All members unanimously pressed for timely implementation of the routes, stressing that the modernization of transport in Jammu could not be delayed any further.
