JAMMU, Sept 27: All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) has strongly criticized the Lt Governor’s Administration for its failure to manage traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway and stoppage of fruit laden trucks at various places along the highway for days together.
In an emergency meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of Ajit Singh Khalsa, the members said that due to stoppage of fruit laden trucks by the Traffic Police authorities on Srinagar -Jammu highway for days together, the truck operators/ owners and the fruit growers/ traders are suffering massive losses. This perhaps was being done deliberately by some elements for their vested interests.
They pointed out that due to poor management of traffic on the highway and problematic situation created by the inexperienced road construction agencies, the road users were being suffering badly while the UT Administration was acting as mute spectator, without bothering about the sufferings of the general public. The Association pleaded the LG to intervene into the matter and ensure hassle-free movement of fruit trucks and other vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar NH, taking serious note of the mess created by some construction agencies between Udhampur and Banihal.
