JAMMU, Apr 24: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today organised a virtual seminar on Panchayati Raj Day wherein senior members of the organization attended the event online.
Anil Sharma, president of the organization presided over the program and addressed the participants. He appreciated the technical support team of the AJKPC which despite COVID restrictions ensured the celebration of the Panchayati Raj Diwas and made it sure that the participants from even far off places attend the online seminar.
In his address, the AJKPC president congratulated all the 33000 Panchayat members who despite all odds contributing towards the development of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. Sharma said that though before the Panchayat elections the State and Union Governments had made huge promises with the contesting candidates but after the successful conduct and participation of candidates the Government forget these people.
He said even in COVID pandemic, the Panches and Sarpanches provided all sort of help to the people and the administration but unfortunately the UT Government and bureaucracy never gave due credit to them. In a unanimous resolution, the participants reiterated the demand of the AJKPC for full implementation of all provisions of 73rd amendments for complete autonomy for Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The members also demanded that Panchayats be allowed for identification of beneficiaries of Ayushman and Sehat Cards which is the flagship program of the government. The prominent and senior members of the organization who attended the webinar include Ram Saroop Sharma, Jatinder Singh, Des Raj Bhagat, Abhy Khajuria, Ghulam Rasool, Shoqat Choudhary, Ashok Singh, Amzad Khan, S. Avtar Singh, S. Raja Singh and S. Ravinder Singh.
