JAMMU, Sept 8: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today demanded restoration of Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) in Jammu and Kashmir with one time inclusion of West Pakistan refugees residing in the UT.
“All other state subjects should be only those already defined and identified in the PRC system of J&K,” the AJKPC leaders said while addressing a press conference here today. Earlier on Tuesday, the executive body members of AJKPC met under the chairmanship of Shafiq Mir, founder of the Organization, wherein they prepared a five point charter of demands and decided to fight for that. Speaking to media persons, provincial president of AJKPC Arun Kumar Sharma said the Conference has decided to launch a movement in the UT to protect the rights of the people, saying that all the political parties has failed to raise even genuine issues of the people as their leaders are involved in corruption from head to toe and fear investigations. He lauded political leaders of Ladakh for protecting the rights of the Ladakhi people.
Sharma said that all type of property taxes should be abolished in J&K as the people of the UT are victims of bloodshed and proxy war. He said the people of the UT should be exempted from the property tax as they made these minute and minor houses in very difficult times and conditions.
He further asserted that electricity and water rent should not be charged from the people of J&K as both electricity and water is local production of J&K. “If we are giving electricity to whole of the country then why our country can’t give us this service without rent,” he questioned.
The AJKPC leaders also voiced for reservation in all state level jobs for local youth of J&K. Besides, they demanded that all type of contracts including mining contracts given to the outsiders be cancelled and allotted to the local contractors of J&K only.
