JAMMU, July 13:  All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has expressed resentment over inordinate delay in completing the project of artificial lake in river Tawi, thereby, it has rued the project having been stuck up due to paucity of funds provided to the Irrigation Department, which is implementing the project.
A meeting of the AJHLA held here today under the chairmanship of its president Inderjeet Khajuria expressed serious concern over the reports that the prestigious project of lake in river Tawi has been put in limbo due to want of funds granting to the Irrigation Department for diverting 17 sewages, which are presently flowing into the river Tawi.
Khajuria observed that the dream project of stake holders in making Jammu city and its surroundings as independent tourist destination was originally scheduled to be completed by March-April, 2012, later extended to July 2013, same again extending upto ending this year. But lately there are reports that the project may not meet even the new deadline.
The association further observed that Jammu city and its surroundings destination are getting hit as a result of train reaching Katra in near future, as well as opening of Mughal Road, linking Rajouri and Poonch districts directly with Kashmir as well as the opening of Sinthan road, linking erstwhile Doda district directly with Kashmir valley.
As a result of all these projects, which are otherwise welcomed in the over all interest of development of all sub regions of Jammu as well as of Kashmir but Jammu city is being bye-passed and will lose its importance and bring a set back to business here.
Others who were present included Ajay Gupta Senior vice president, H S Manhas vice president, Pawan Gupta, general secretary, Baldev Raj, treasurer, Vikram Singh secretary, Sunil Suri, secretary etc.
