JAMMU, Sept 7: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has blamed both the Centre and the State Government for its failure to revive the Jammu’s tourism industry.
In a statement issued, President of AJHLA, Inderjeet Khajuria said that the tall claims of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Deputy Chairman Dr Nirmal Singh have taken no initiative to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination despite the lapse of half of the current fiscal year.
He added that the ongoing tourism projects which were started by the previous NC-Congress coalition Government with a view to attract tourists and pilgrims to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination are facing total neglect by the present dispensation.
Khajuria stated that the every development step initiated by the present Coalition Government is aimed directly or indirectly in the promotion of Kashmir Valley.
He added that occupancy in the hotels and lodges right from August 2015 is nearly zero in Jammu and due to this they are facing manifold problems including non-payment of electricity bills and wages to the hotel staff.
Khajuria said that the AJHLA appealed the State Government various times to contribute for the revival of Jammu traders economy but till date nothing has been done, which is visible due to neglect of the tourism related projects like artificial lake project on Tawi River, Ropeway Project, renovation of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, construction of multi-storied shopping complex with parking and ISBT at general bus-stand, etc.
He added that sincere efforts are required to ensure completion of ongoing projects to ensure Jammu as independent tourist destination.
