AJCSF to continue campaign in other districts of region

JAMMU, Aug 23: All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) plans to continue its process of enlarging its base with the` masses in other districts of the State.
A general body meeting of the AJCSF was held at Jammu here today under the chairmanship of its convenor Gulchain Singh Charak. Prominent heads of trade organizations and personalities from the corporate sector attended the meeting, who represent the business community facing the brunt and financial crunch due to the back lash and freeze of all commercial activity due to the prevailing turmoil in Kashmir part of the J&K State.
Explaining the background, aims and objectives of the Forum  Mr  Charak welcomed the new members and briefly apprised them of the activities. The co-convenor Abdul Majid assured full support from Rajouri and Poonch after the recent meetings held there and establishment of AJCSF units there.
General secretary Annil Suri emphasized the necessity to promote intra-regional dialogue. He also suggested utilizing the social media to reach out to likeminded people and expand the Forum’s activities that must percolate down to grass root level. Yash Paul Gupta and  Neeraj Anand spoke about strengthening the necessary financial base. Many suggestions including own contributions for the cause were discussed with members volunteering to willingly coming forward to subscribe.
Col (Dr) Virendra K Sahi who has returned after five days detailed survey of ground realities in the Valley suggested that there are peace loving elements among the intelligentsia in Kashmir and suggested to hold a seminar as a bridge to draw them out and create a common platform.
Annan Sharma, President of the Oil Tankers Owners Association  explained the plight of tankers drivers operating in Kashmir and the sufferings, they were faced with, resulting into the strike when all other democratic means failed.
Mr Charak spelled out the calendar of future activities that included enlarging the field of AJCSF activities to Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtewar, Ramban, Udhampur and Reasi. He said the all the three parts of the J&K State have to move together.
Maj Gen GS Jamwal, S. Peter, Chhatter Singh, Amanat Ali Shah, Chander  Gulati, VK Sharma, SP Langer, Rajesh Gupta, Balwinder Singh, Surinder Mahajan, Col. Karan Singh Jamwal also spoke on the occasion.
