SAMBA, May 17: Ajay Singh Charak has been elected as the new president of Samba Bar Association, the elections of which were held here, today. Ajay Singh has won by defeating Mandeep Sambyal by 11 votes. The election was held in Samba Court premises under the supervision of former President Ajay Gupta.
A total of 149 advocates are registered in Samba Court. Only two candidates contested for the post of president. Out of 149 voters, 146 cast their votes, while Ajay Singh Charak got 81 votes and Mandeep Sambyal got only 65 votes.
There were three candidates in the fray for the post of vice president in which Rahul Sharma emerged victorious. Rahul won by getting 75 votes while Sandeepa Kumari got 60 votes and Amrish Slathia got only 11 votes. Two candidates were in the fray for the post of general secretary in which Hitesh Divedi won by getting 80 votes while Manish Vaid got 66 votes. Two candidates were also in the fray for the post of joint secretary in which Aniket Vaid got 76 votes while Satish Kumar was got 70 votes.
Two candidates locked horns for the post of treasurer in which Neeraj Sadotra got 90 votes while Nitish Singh got 55 votes. One vote was rejected.
Celebrating the victory, the new team assured all the advocates that everyone’s interests will be taken care of and if anyone faces any difficulty the president and his team will always be with him.
He also said that the court in Samba will be uplifted by taking all the advocates along so that the name of the Samba Court Complex is written in the Golden letters.
