AISF’s hunger strike enters 10th day

DODA, Oct 15: All India Students Federation, District Doda Council, whose hunger strike in support of genuine demands entered 10th day today has issued a call for Doda bandh tomorrow and received tremendous response from one and all.
The AISF has launched struggle to get started Post Graduation classes in Doda Campus of University of Jammu and Commerce stream in GDC Doda. The protest is being led by district AISF president Mukesh Parihar.
Today Auto Union also came out in support of fasting students and sat on dharna. One of the Auto Drivers said that the poor section of the society cannot afford to send their wards outside the State or any other places for pursuing higher studies, so the Government should immediately start the PG classes in Doda Campus of the university.
Today also a number of girls led by Fozia Banoo and Jyoti Bhagat of GDC Doda joined the hunger strike. Besides a number of students from GDC Doda, Boys Higher Secondary School Doda, ITI and other colleges of Doda joined the hunger strike at Old Bus Stand of the city.
The AISF is demanding, among other things, appointment of Rector for Doda Campus of University of Jammu, construction of hostels for boys and girls at Doda, implementation of half fare in passenger vehicles for students etc.
The ongoing struggle of students has been extended support by Works Supervisors Association, Patwar Association, Doda Welfare Society, Bar Association, Civil Society, Low Paid Employees, Educational Development Society, general public and various organizations.
