AIRNF warns of protest over delay in GMC Recruitment Rules

JAMMU, April 6: All India Registered Nurses Federation (AIRNF) has issued a strong call to the nursing cadre across Jammu and Kashmir’s five newly established Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), urging them to remain prepared for a decisive and united protest over the prolonged delay in finalization of Service Recruitment Rules (SRRs).
In a statement, AIRNF expressed serious concern that since 2019, the SRRs for non-gazetted employees in these new GMCs have remained pending, terming the delay “unacceptable” and detrimental to the rights and career progression of the workforce. The Federation highlighted that the issue is not limited to the new institutions alone, but also includes the long-pending updation and revision of SRRs for GMC Jammu and GMC Srinagar.
According to AIRNF, the uncertainty surrounding the recruitment rules has put the future of more than 3,300 non-gazetted employees at risk, affecting their promotional avenues and overall service structure. The Federation emphasized that safeguarding the collective interests of the employees requires unity and readiness to take a firm stand if the situation persists.
The Organization further stated that if the Government fails to finalize the SRRs within a reasonable and clearly defined timeframe, the Health and Medical Education Department would be left with no option but to initiate promotions and convene Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) through executive orders. AIRNF underlined that such measures should be carried out in accordance with the established guidelines of the General Administration Department.
Reiterating its stance, AIRNF warned that any further delay would not be tolerated and signaled its intent to launch a strong and organized protest by mobilizing its nursing cadre across all GMCs. The Federation asserted that the time for assurances has passed and called for immediate action from the authorities to resolve the issue without further delay.
The statement was issued by AIRNF State president Vishav Sharma and State general secretary Priyanka Salaria.
