JAMMU, Aug 21: The J&K unit of All India Registered Nurses Federation (AIRNF) has strongly urged the Government to sanction nursing stipends for all students enrolled in Government Nursing Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir – a demand pending for several years.
While several states and union territories across India have adopted progressive policies to support and promote nursing education by offering monthly stipends and financial assistance, nursing students in J&K continue to face discrimination and financial neglect.
Nursing student associations in the region have submitted multiple representations to the Health Minister, Secretary Health and the Director Finance in this regard but in no vain.
Speaking on the issue, State president of AIRNF, Vishav Sharma, stated, “It is disheartening that our nursing students, who are the backbone of the healthcare system, are being denied the support they deserve. While others across the country benefit from Government aid, J&K’s students continue to suffer. We request the Health Minister to personally intervene in this matter of long-standing discrimination and bring a positive resolution at the earliest.”
The AIRNF has expressed hope that the Government will prioritize this critical matter and ensure justice is done for thousands of nursing students aspiring to serve in the healthcare sector with dedication and dignity.
